Chef John’S Classic Italian Meatballs

Prep: 15 minutes
Cook: 20 minutes
Yields: 4 servings

Prepare to dive into a world of pure culinary indulgence with these mouthwatering Italian meatballs!

Get ready to get your hands messy and your taste buds dancing because we’re making melt-in-your-mouth Italian meatballs! We’re going to skip the traditional pan-frying, so this is going to be a lot easier than you think.

Grab some ground beef and pork. Let’s give them a little mix and mingle. Now, throw in some bread crumbs that have been having a cozy soak in some milk – let’s say 20 minutes should do the trick. Dice an onion nice and small and let it sauté until it’s a gorgeous golden brown.

In a bowl, gather your ground beef and pork party and add the sautéed onion, the bread crumb mixture, two eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, garlic, salt, pepper, Italian herbs, and a touch of red pepper flakes.

Now, let’s let the mixture hang out in the fridge for about an hour. Don’t be shy, give it a little stir every now and then!

Preheat your oven to a sizzling 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Roll the mixture into little balls, about 1 ½ inches in diameter. Place them on a lined baking sheet and let them bake until they’re nice and browned, about 15-20 minutes.

When they’re ready, serve these delicious meatballs with your favorite tomato sauce. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself going back for seconds… and thirds!
