Crispy Rice – Cook it the Southern Way

Buckle up, folks, because we’re embarkin’ on an epic crispy rice adventure!

This ricey goodness is an absolute game-changer. It’s a perfect match for any saucy chicken, a saucy tomato number, or a hearty sausage and beans. You can even shake things up by adding it to your red beans and rice! It takes some time, but trust us, it’s worth every lip-smackin’ minute.

Let’s get cookin’ with the recipe:

1. Grab a big pot and fill it with water. Toss in some salt and bring it to a boil.

2. In the meantime, take your rice and give it a good rinse under cold water. Keep rinsing until the water runs clear. Trust us, it’s worth the wait.

3. Once the water’s boiling, carefully add in your rice. Lower the heat and stir it up every now and then. We’re aiming for rice that’s almost tender, so keep an eye on it for about 6 to 8 minutes.

5. Now, it’s time for the magic! Grab a medium bowl and mix together 1 cup of that cooked rice with some sour cream. Get ready to get your hands messy.

9. After 15 minutes, grab the remaining butter and cut it into small cubes. Add them around the edges of the rice and in those steam holes. Keep cookin’ for another 15 to 18 minutes, turning the skillet every few minutes so it gets golden and crispy.

10. And now, for the most satisfying part! Remove the skillet from the heat and cover it with a plate or a platter. Hold your breath and flip that rice onto the plate. Don’t be shy, do it with confidence!
