To start, preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. While that’s heating up, slice off the top 1/2 inch of each apple and remove the core, leaving about 1 inch of apple intact at the bottom. Then, use a paring knife or round cookie cutter to cut 2 concentric circles, about 1/4 inch apart, outward from the core.
Next, working from the top of the apple, cut vertically into 8 equal slices, leaving the apple intact at the bottom. You should now have a beautiful, blooming apple shape!

Ingredients
- 4 Honeycrisp apples
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce
Instructions
- 1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F and grease a medium baking dish with cooking spray.
- 2. In a small bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
- 3. Slice the top 1/2 inch off each apple and remove the core, leaving about 1 inch of apple intact at the bottom.
- 4. Use a paring knife to make two circular cuts in the apple. Place the apple cut side down on a cutting board and slice crosswise into 8 equal slices, being careful not to cut through the core.
- 5. Place the cut apples in the baking dish. Fill each apple with two caramel squares, then brush the melted butter mixture on top.
- 6. Bake until the apples are tender, about 30 minutes. Serve warm with ice cream and drizzle with caramel.
