Black Bean Burgers

Prep: 15 minutes

Yields: 4 servings

Get ready to sink your teeth into the most mouthwatering, flavor-packed black bean burgers of your life.

Imagine a patty that’s not just a vessel for toppings, but a culinary masterpiece in its own right. A patty that’s bursting with the deep, rich flavors of black beans, garlic, red onion, cumin, cilantro, and sriracha.

These babies are the real deal, folks. They’re the perfect combination of hearty, comforting, and adventurous. And the best part? They’re ridiculously easy to make.

First, you’ll want to start by rinsing and draining two 15oz. cans of black beans. Yes, you read that right – canned beans are perfectly fine for this recipe. Then, add them to a food processor along with ¼ of a red onion, 1 clove of garlic, ¼ bunch of cilantro, 1 Tbsp sriracha, 1 Tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tsp cumin, 1.5 Tbsp soy sauce, and ¼ tsp pepper.

Pulse the ingredients together until they’re mostly mixed. Don’t overdo it – you want to leave a little bit of texture to the mixture. Then, add the black bean mixture to a large bowl along with one egg and 1 cup of breadcrumbs.

Combine the black bean mixture with the breadcrumbs and eggs. Let this mixture sit for about five minutes to let the breadcrumbs absorb some of the moisture. This is the secret to getting the perfect patty.

Divide the mixture into six equal portions and shape them into patties. You should end up with six decent-sized black bean burgers. Don’t worry if they’re not perfect – they’ll still taste amazing.

Add a ½ Tbsp cooking oil to a skillet and heat over medium. When the oil is hot, add a couple of patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are nicely browned and heated through.

Repeat with more oil and patties until the desired number are cooked. And don’t worry if you can’t eat them all in one sitting – these black bean burgers freeze beautifully.

So go ahead, get creative with your toppings. Add some chipotle mayo, cheddar cheese, and jalapeños for a southwest spin. Or go for a BBQ version with BBQ sauce and pepper jack cheese. The possibilities are endless.

And don’t forget to try some Comeback Sauce on there – it’s the perfect addition to these already-amazing black bean burgers.

So what are you waiting for? Get cooking and indulge in the most epic black bean burger of your life.
