Prep: 0 minutes
Cook: 3-5 minutes
Yields: 4 servings

Get ready to dive into the world of crispy, golden fish sandwiches that will make your taste buds do the happy dance.

Imagine a thick, juicy fish filet, fried to perfection and stacked on a steamed bun with a dollop of creamy tartar sauce. Sounds like a match made in heaven, right?

First, let’s get our ingredients ready. We’ll need some skinless cod fillets, kosher salt, eggs, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, cornstarch, flour, paprika, panko breadcrumbs, brioche hamburger buns, processed American cheese slices, and some tap water.

Now, let’s heat up some oil in a large Dutch oven to 360 degrees F. While that’s heating up, let’s prep our fish fillets. Pat them dry with some paper towels and sprinkle them with a bit of salt.

In a medium shallow bowl, whisk together some egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, cornstarch, flour, paprika, and a bit more salt. Place some panko breadcrumbs in another shallow bowl. Now, let’s coat our fish fillets in the egg mixture, then the panko breadcrumbs.

Once our oil is hot, gently add two of our coated fish fillets to the oil. Fry them for about 3-5 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack to keep warm.

Now, let’s toast our buns. Place the bottom buns on a large microwavable plate, top each with a cheese slice, and sprinkle a small paper towel with water. Cover the plate with an inverted microwavable glass bowl and microwave on high for 15-20 seconds.

Remove the buns from the microwave and top each with a fish fillet. Drizzle some tartar sauce on top and cover with the top buns. Serve immediately with some shoestring fries.

This sandwich is a game-changer. The combination of crispy fish, melted cheese, and creamy tartar sauce on a toasted bun is absolute perfection.

So, who’s ready to give this recipe a try? Let’s get cooking and indulge in this deliciousness!
