Prep: 15 minutes
Yields: 4 servings
Get ready for a sweet and sassy treat that’s perfect for any patriotic party! These firecracker cherries are a kid-friendly twist on a classic dessert, and they’re ridiculously easy to make.
First, grab a jar of maraschino cherries and drain out the juice. Yeah, it’s okay to be a little sad about pouring out that sweet, sweet juice… but trust us, it’s worth it!
Next, pour in some cola to cover those cherries. Yep, you read that right – cola! It’s the secret ingredient that gives these cherries their unique flavor. Seal that jar and stick it in the fridge for 1-2 days. The longer they soak, the more intense the flavor will be.
When you’re ready to get your cherry on, melt some white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl. You can do this in 30-second increments, stirring between each interval, until it’s smooth and creamy.
Now it’s time to get creative! Dip each cherry into the melted chocolate, leaving about 1/3 of the cherry exposed. Roll that bad boy in some blue sugar, and voila! You’ve got a firecracker cherry that’s almost too cute to eat.
Almost.
These babies are perfect for 4th of July parties, Memorial Day barbecues, or any other patriotic shindig. And the best part? They’re ridiculously easy to customize. Want to make them for a birthday party? Use pink or purple sugar instead of blue. Want to make them for a Christmas party? Use red and green sugar. You get the idea!
